hmm.... went for an interview today. Dun get me wrong, I was the interviewer, and I had to interview this lady. LOL. It was a in-take session for clients and I was the 'social worker'. Had to do it for one of my modules. It was easier than I expected it to be..... the client was nice friendly and all. And I had quite gd feedback from my supervisor too. The only difficulty was to structure the whole interview in Chinese and all the micro skills we learn, eg Reflecting, Contracting, Paraphasing, normalising, validating and body language etc were all taught in English. Bleah.. but it was a good attempt! Good Job Cheryl.. N1 LOL.
After this interview, I realised why people bring suffering upon themselves. The One Word 'Expectations' is one of the main culprits. She expects certain respect from her children, and expects her children to do well in sch etc etc. Expectations and not fulfilling them..... brings hurt and disappointment. This made me reflect on many things. And it gave me an explanation why some things hurt more than others. I had my expectations about how things should be and how nice people shd be to me, becos I was nice to them. But on hindsight, life's unfair and not everyone is as appreciative as u wish them to be, i get disappointed. And so, be appreciative of pple who showed their appreciation, and note those who don't. Don't bother helping them again... dun be on the losing end in such a realistic world. The world won't stop to grieve for you. And the devilish part of me would probaby hope that some part in them feel a tinge of guilt? LOL.... but if they were so unappreciative, I guess it's already beyond any hope. I don't blame them, cuz I'm not exactly innocent of not fulfilling the expectations people have of me.. but at least I try to show my appreciation. And today, my client said thanks to me... and that was her gift..... to me. I may nvr see her again, but I wish her well, safe and sound and happy.
